If you play World of Warcraft you know how important the role of the Priest is, parties are always looking for a strong healer to take on raids. A Priest’s primary skills are centered on healing, and in WoW the higher level the Priest is the more popular they will be with other players. First, figure out where your talent points should go as you progress. Your speed at going through the levels can be largely determined by the talent tree that’s developed. You might not be quite as useful in a group, it’s possible to provide very effective support in the end game.

If you’re looking to be a classic healer instead you’ll want to focus on the Holy talent tree. When it comes to parties a Holy Priest is extremely important.

When you are looking to work on single or a few target heals rather than on a group healing situation, consider taking on the discipline tree. Discipline priests have some of the qualities of both holy priests and shadow priests, and they are a fairly survivable way to take your toon.

You could also consider taking up cooking, just the buffs are worth it.

As you level your priest, you might want to get familiar with the practice of re-speccing, as that can help you in your progress through the levels. When priests want to level up, a common strategy that’s very effective is to spend the first thirty levels as a shadow priest, then altering their talent tree afterward. It doesn’t cost much at all to re-spec your first time, and you can change your talents to something more suited for group play.

Ever since we first started playing WoW my sister has been with the Alliance. She always loved the other Warcraft games so it was fairly predictable that she would give WoW a try as well. There are many things you can buy with your gold in World of Warcraft inspite the fact that many players say that the good stuff only drops from raids. There are quite a few end game crafted pieces of gear accessible to anyone that has the money. Also, you can buy spots into elite raids and arena boosts if you find the players that are willing to help you on this. However, if you have these two professions maximized, make sure you learn the Fish Feast cooking recipe, because this raiding food is on high demand on any server and a very profitable item to sell. The fish you need for it are: Glacial Salmon, which can be caught in Grizzly Hills, Musselback Sculpin from Borean Tundra and the Nettlefish from Sholazar.

3. Wintergrasp for Alchemists and Herbalists. Wintergrasp is a good area, as this excellent WoW gold guide taught me, to farm herbs for flasks and potions. However, you won’t find any Adder’s Tongue here, but your main goal should be the Frost Lotus flowers anyway. You can get 5-6 Frost Lotus flowers here per hour which can grant you up to a full stack of flasks if you’re a lucky Elixir Master. Plus, all the herbs here can be sold separately for nice cash.

The Goblins awe coming! And if you’re an Alliance character, they are going to be right at you. Now, you might be wondering what will happen to your rep with the various Goblin factions? Especially if you are Alliance and you have discovered that the race will be allied with the Horde for the forthcoming Cataclysm expansion for Warcraft.

Nothing… is the answer. The Horde Goblins are a schism of the main Goblin race. You will still find your favourite wide grinned cheeky chappies haggling and offering you a lift at all your favourite locations. Personally, I’m glad about this. I have grown to like the Goblin style. It reminds me of “CMOT Dibbler” from Discworld.

The reason for the split is that a faction of Goblins has been attacked by Deathwing (yes, Deathwing is back). This has driven them to the Lost Isles and into the mix with the Horde.

The good news is that in keeping with the opening up of race restrictions, there are plenty of choices for Goblins. Warrior, Warlock, Shaman, Rogue, Priest, Mage and Hunter. The two spiritual classes of Paladin and Shaman are not included. A good choice here I think.

The character models are a total revamp of the existing in-game NPC models. Expect far more detail, and a more sinister outlook all round.

As for racial abilities, the list reads;

Better Living Through Chemistry – The standard 25 point boost to a profession that most races get now. This time it’s Alchemy. The most consistent of the gold making professions at low level (everyone needs potions – all the time) Consumable manufacture is a real gold spinner.

Pack Hobgoblin – Amazingly, this perk is the ability to call up a mobile bank and Auction house GUI in the field. To wheel and deal from wherever you are. For gold makers this is an absolutely great perk.

Rocket Barrage – Damage nearby opponents with a barrage of rockets (see, the clue is in the title) No news on cooldown or threat.

Rocket Jump – Akin to a Warriors charge, but as a racial talent. Useful for tanking

Time is Money – A straight 1% Attack speed bonus. A passive trait will add a 1% increase to casting and attack speed.

It’s hard to pigeon-hole Goblin stats as they stand. The alchemy boost (for potions) and Rocket Jump combined seem like tanking abilities. If the Rocket Barrage ability has a quick cooldown and generates threat then that is probably the best deal.

Goblins look to be every bit as exciting as Worgen. Warcraft Cataclysm is shaping up to be a great expansion in principle. Watch this space for more news as it is released.

Despite the idea that the warriors are very reliant on having the best gear, it’s quite apparent that gear is important for almost every class in the game. For example, what kind of gear can help you out the most as you play a warlock in World of Warcraft, especially when you’re trying to maximize your character’s performance? Do your research and find the equipment that will help your character out the most. Compared to a warrior, a warlock doesn’t quite need to rely on having the best gear as much in order to get the best results, but having quality gear is still important in getting the most out of your character, and can help you get through quests faster!

First of all, you can only really get cloth armor for your warlock character. Sell whatever armor you get that isn’t made of cloth, or you can even disenchant it if you have that ability. Since warlocks are dependent on cloth armor, tailoring is a typical profession for such a class, and you’d benefit from it as well.

Right off the bat, you can have wands and daggers for weapons if you’re a warlock, as well as using unarmed combat. You can also arm yourself with staves and one handed swords, but you have to train to acquire the appropriate skills required to handle these weapons. If your character is Alliance oriented, your sword training will be done in Stormwind, as well as your stave training, unless you go to Darnassus instead.

As a warlock, you are ideally going to be doing all your damage from a distance. Allowing a dangerous mob to get close to you is going to put you in a situation where you will be taking more damage than you can put out. This means that your wand is likely going to be your main weapon, with your staff or sword for backup.

At the beginning levels, choosing gear is going to be fairly easy. Almost everything that you pick up that you an equip is going to be an upgrade, but as you keep going, you will find that you are going to need to make more and more choices.

First, remember that armor rating is fairly important, but you are a class that should not get hit in the first place! Instead, consider what the bonuses to your traits are going to be. Most good pieces of gear will offer you buffs to different traits, and to choose between two pieces of gear, keep a few things in mind.

As you continue to develop your new character, you might want to place an emphasis on stamina-enhancing gear, so you can last longer as your skills build up. Once you’ve got that cover, you want to find intelligence boosting gear in whatever equipment you find for any reason. Finding gear that can enhance the damage your spells do would also be incredibly useful.

The third Warcraft expansion Cataclysm was announced late last year, and we have now seen most of new features listed, and had time to take in what this means. Let’s have a look at the transformation of the landscape of Azeroth.

Just looking at a few examples. Ashenvale for example will now live up to its nomenclature and become a vale…full of ash. On the flip side Desolace will cease to be the desolate wasteland and become a typical Night Elf haven, all pretty purples and greens. My favourite area of Stranglethorn Vale will remain roughly similar, but plans are to have a volcano in the middle of it (so not that similar at all then).

But it’s not just the changes that we need be wary of. It is the requirements on your PC. Looking at the videos for the new zones it is clear that they are much more detailed than the existing Azeroth. A good thing. However, for those of you scraping by on an old PC, this expansion might signal the need for a change.

If you multi box this might be an even bigger problem for you. Lowering detail levels and frame rates for the slave clients is of course an option, but the game needs to be playable. If you use specialist key mapping software, then these often come with the tools you need to alter some of the more hardware intensive aspects.

Take a look at the videos, what you notice more than anything (well I do) is the amount of movement and animation in scenes where there are not even any players of NPC’s present. Weather effects, flags, clouds, water detail. Everything is improved. They all need to be rendered by your hardware.

It’s fair to say that Warcraft has never been a resource guzzler and it runs pretty well on low to mid range machines, However, because of this many people are still using these older machines. These are perhaps the players who need to have a quick look at the specs. Of course, for many, turning the detail down is an option. But Warcraft is going to have some great new views. It would be nice to see them in all their glory.

Cataclysm could be many months off. SO there is no panic at all, but my advice (for what it’s worth) is to spend the time saving for some upgrades to your PC, especially if it is a little long in the tooth.

If you have just started your first Draenei character in Warcraft you will probably want to power level them as quickly as possible. Here are the first steps to get you started.

Start at a crash site. You are initially faced by a fellow traveller called Megalon. Right click on him and accept the quest “You Survived” Head south towards the character now showing a question mark on their head. Click on them then click on the finish quest button at the bottom of the dialogue window that pops up. Voila. You have completed your first quest.

There are two more quests available in this small area. Click on the characters with the yellow exclamation marks over them (!) and they will offer you tasks in the same way as Megalon. Accept these quests.

The next two involve clearing mobs (in game monsters) from the area and looting. At this point it’s worth remembering that you have special skills. Depending on the class you have chosen you will have your basic attack (normally mapped to the left mouse button) and your special skill is normally accessed by pressing “2″ on your keyboard – or clicking in the second box from the left on the user interface at the bottom of the screen.

This special attack will do far more damage, but will take a few seconds to recharge. During this few seconds, revert to your normal attack if possible (left click or “1″ on the keyboard) Some classes use ranged attacks, and you get quite a bit of damage on your target before it even gets close enough to touch you

So kill the 8 volatile mutations and loot enough moths to collect 8 vials of blood. To collect loot from a mob you have killed, right click on it and a window will pop up with the loot. Left click the items you want. To begin with you have no gold what so ever, so collect everything to sell. You really need some gold (or at this level it will be copper). You can see the mobs that you are eligible to loot; they will give off  “sparkles”

Early in the game loot everything until your backpack is full. In this case keep killing moths and looting until you have the eight vials you are after.

Return to the quest givers near the ship behind you, right click on them, read the text and press the button at the bottom of the text box to complete the quest.

By now you will have leveled to at least level 2, and you will be directed to your class trainer. This is where you can learn new skills, and improve old ones. There are vendors in the area where the class trainer is situated. Click on them (they will have a bag or anvil icon on front of them when you hover the mouse over them) you will be able to sell the loot you don’t need to these, and they will pay you in copper for it.

Find more quests… Characters with exclamation marks over them have quests you can do. Characters with yellow question marks over their heads are the ones to return to once the quest is complete for rewards and experience.

Quests reward you with gold, experience points, and items you can equip yourself with that improve your skills. Completing quests is by far the most efficient and fastest way to powerlevel in Warcraft.
